Under limited supervision, produces sonographic scans for medical diagnosis. Involves positioning of patients and adjusting equipment for proper exposure and for film development. Records pertinent information relating to the production of the ultrasound scan. Assists in the supervision of ultrasound students. This is a full time or part time position which may be require flexibility and is eligible for overtime pay. This position requires the ability to take on-call for patients requiring emergency procedures.

  • Professional practice- performs all types of cardiac echoes on adult pediatric, neonatal, and newborn patients.
  • Technical practice- Ensure accurate patient identification and records all pertinent information in the medical record L
  • Fiscal Accountability- Participates in the achievement of unit/service budget by demonstrating fiscal accountabilities to department budgetary goals and assists in correct auditing and reconciliation of charges and modifying practice to achieve these goals. Organizes work load appropriately by demonstrating the ability to work with minimal supervision and at the same time meeting the work load deadlines.
  • Orientation and Training- Provides education and orientation to all new employees. Position provides functional guidance to less experienced technologist, students and medical personnel requesting information pertaining to echo examinations.
  • Quality performance improvement- Participates in department's performance improvements (PI) projects. Prioritizes the order to patient evaluations primarily to serve the best interest of the patient and secondarily to the satisfaction of non-urgent request to maximize efficiency.
  • Critical thinking- ability to modify test appropriately for the clinical and working conditions of the study (limited vs full study when suitable)


  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program
  • Active status as a registered vascular technologist or registered sonographer by the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers)
  • Acquired 12 vascular CME's per Calendar year


  • Must successfully complete and maintain CPR/BLS certification from accredited American Heart Association.


  • Minimum one-year hospital experience as a Respiratory Therapist within the last 12 months.
