Job Summary
Looking for a Certified Pharmacy Technician that works under the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Responsible duties include drug distribution and intravenous admixture throughout the hospital and/or infusion center. Competency in performing ALL aspects of the Pyxis automated dispensing systems. Assisting in ensuring that all medications are appropriately barcoded. Pharmacy Tech will Maintain accurate controlled substance inventory utilizing the CII Pyxis system. Accurate and efficient preparation and dispensing of medications with pharmacist verification. Certification in chemotherapy preparation practices with competency in utilizing Texium system. Generates revenues by calculating, recording and issuing charges (OR billing). For ASAP start!

Responsibilities and details for Certified Pharmacy Tech:

· Sterile compounding (both HD and non-HD)

· Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Consistent documentation of all pharmacy log sheets.

· Completes monthly expiration medication assignments and documents consistently. Competency in repackaging/unit-dosing medications using the MILT4 program and aseptic technique

· Knowledge of (computer, Cerner system, Power Chart, Pyxis) to triage workflow for efficient medication delivery. (checking medication history, printing labels, checking drip rates)

· Prepare and dispense medications accurately and efficiently, following established protocols.

· Provide patient education on medication usage, side effects, and potential interactions.

· Assist in IV infusion preparations and administration as required.

· Schedule 8 hrs rotating shifts. We have different start times throughout the day, ranging from 0530 to 2200. It will change between the weeks and may include some weekend days as well.

· The employee 4 week schedule will be posted 2 weeks before the current posted schedule ends.

Qualification for Certified Pharmacy Tech to Apply:

• Familiarity with critical care protocols and patient care standards is highly desirable.
• 1 year experience as a Pharmacy Technician within a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
• Graduation from accredited Pharmacy Technician School preferred High School Diploma or GED required
• Pharmacy Technician Registration with California State Board of Pharmacy.
• Knowledge of inhalation therapies and other specialized medication administration techniques is a plus.
• Must be able to pass a Drug Screen and Background
• Have all Health records up to date within the last year
